Amlodipine Besylate is used to treat systemic hypertension in dogs and cats. It acts as a calcium-channel blocker that relaxes the arterial muscles to lower blood pressure.
Many veterinarians consider Amlodipine the preferred medication for treating hypertension in cats. Amlodipine may also improve survival in cats with hypertensive kidney disease.
