BIOMOX (amoxicillin) Oral Suspension is a semisynthetic, broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat a wide array of susceptible bacterial infections in dogs. BIOMOX Oral Suspension requires a prescription from your veterinarian. It is often prescribed to treat bite wounds, bacterial dermatitis, dental infections, and infections of the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract and urinary tract.

For:

Dogs

Benefits:

  • Easy-to-administer, tasty cherry-flavored oral suspension
  • Used to treat bite wounds, bacterial dermatitis, dental infections
  • Useful in the treatment of a wide array of bacterial infections
  • Also used in the treatment of infections of the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract and urinary tract

How it works

Amoxicillin kills bacteria by preventing them from building a proper cell wall while they grow. It accomplishes this by inhibiting the linking of peptidoglycan chains that are a major component in both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria’s cell walls.

Storage:

Do Not Store Dry Powder at Temperatures Above 25°C (77°F).

  • Shake well before using. Keep bottle tightly closed.
  • When stored at room temperature or in refrigerator, discard unused portion of reconstituted suspension after 14 days.
Weight range (lbs) Dosage
All weights Give 5 mg per pound of body weight. Administer twice a day for 5 to 7 days. Continue for 48 hours after all symptoms have subsided.

Cautions

For use in dogs only. The use of amoxicillin is contraindicated in dogs with a history of an allergic reaction to penicillin. Amoxicillin is a semisynthetic penicillin and, therefore, has the potential for producing allergic reactions. Epinephrine and/or steroids should be administered if an allergic reaction occurs. BIOMOX (amoxicillin) Oral Suspension should not be used in pregnant or breeding pets. Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.

Side Effects

Contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet experiences severe or bloody diarrhea during treatment. Stop giving BIOMOX and seek emergency veterinary medical care in the event of an allergic reaction (shortness of breath; hives; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; rash, or fainting), seizures, unusual bleeding, or bruising. Other, less serious side effects such as mild nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or abdominal pain, or yeast or fungal infection may be more likely to occur. Continue to give amoxicillin and notify your veterinarian if these symptoms occur. Talk to your veterinarian about any side effect that seems unusual or bothersome to your pet.
