How Does it Work?
Meloxicam is in a class of medications called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by stopping the body's production of a substance that causes pain, fever, and inflammation.
Alternative Brands: Metacam
Meloxocam should not be given with other NSAIDs. Do not use in dogs less than 6 weeks old, or during pregnancy. Do not use in animals with bleeding disorders. Consult with your veterinarian before administering meloxocam. Side Effects may include vomiting, decrease appetite, skin irritation, stomach ulcers, change in behavior. Contact your vet immediately if your pet has side effects or conditions worsen.
Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets. Do not flush medications down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so. Properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company.
Meloxicam 7.5mg Per Tablet
Meloxicam comes as a tablet to take by mouth. Take once a day with or without food, at the same time every day. Follow the directions provided by your veterinarian. Do not take more than what is prescribed by your doctor.
The usual dose is 0.1mg per pound for the first day followed by 0.05mg per pound once a day thereafter. Keep plenty of water available for pet to drink.
Meloxicam is also used alternatively to treat dogs suffering from arthritis, dog cancer and post surgery pain. Ask your vet about the possible risks of using this medication for your pets condition.
