Veraflox is a broad-spectrum antibiotic for cats that treats skin infections, wounds and abscesses, or respiratory infections. It treats Pasteurella, Streptococcus, and Staphylococcus strains of bacteria. Veraflox is specifically formulated to be palatable to cats.

How it works:

Veraflox works by attacking the essential target enzymes needed for the reproduction of Gram-positive, Gram-negative, and anaerobic bacteria.

Storage:

Should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.

  • Veraflox can be given with food.
  • Follow your veterinarian's instructions exactly as directed.
  • Shake bottle well before use. Draw out the equivalent dosage into the syringe. Administer solution directly into the mouth.
  • Administer 3.4 mg/lb (7.5 mg/kg) body weight once daily for 7 consecutive days.
  • Use the dosing syringe included in the package to ensure accuracy of dosing to the nearest 0.1 ml. Rinse syringe between doses.

All weights Administer 3.4 mg/lb (7.5 mg/kg) body weight once daily for 7 consecutive days or as directed by your veterinarian.

Cautions:

Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Veraflox is not intended for human use. Use in cats only. Do not use in pets with known hypersensitivity to quionolone. Veraflox may interact with some other medications. Therefore, inform your veterinarian of any and all medications that your pet may be taking. Avoid skin and eye contact with Veraflox. If contact occurs, flush your eyes with water and wash your skin with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Properly dispose of used syringes. Do not eat or drink while administering Veraflox. Improper use of antibiotics can increase the risk of antibiotic resistant bacteria. Use with caution if your pet has central nervous system disorders. Use with caution in young cats and cats that are pregnant or nursing. If you notice any behavioral or physiological side effects when administering this medication, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Side Effects:

Potential side effects of Veraflox can include diarrhea, leukocytosis with neutrophilia (high white blood count), elevated CPK levels, sneezing, hematuria (blood in urine), hypersalivation, pruritus (severe itching of the skin), lack of appetite, lethargy, cardiac murmur, reclusive behavior, vomiting, bacteriuria (bacteria in urine), polydipsia (great thirst), and upper respiratory infection.
