Zobuxa(enrofloxacin) is available by prescription only. Enrofloxacin is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone. Enrofloxacin is used to treat bacterial infections found in the intestinal tract, urinary tract, liver, lungs, prostate, and skin. Fluoroquinolones work by inhibiting the replication of bacterial DNA.

How it works?

Enrofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. Fluoroquinolones interfere with bacterial DNA metabolism to kill the bacteria.

Storage:

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep this medication away from children and pets.

Give either as a single dose or divided into 2 equal daily doses administered at 12 hour intervals. The dose should be continued for at least 2-3 days beyond cessation of clinical signs, to a maximum of 30 days.
Pet Weight Dosage
Dogs All weights Administer orally at a rate to provide 5-20 mg/kg (2.27 to 9.07 mg/lb) of body weight.
Cats All weights Administer orally at a rate to provide 5 mg/kg (2.27 mg/lb) of body weight.

Cautions

Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Enrofloxacin may interact with some other medications. Inform your veterinarian of any and all medications your pet may be taking, especially warfarin, theophylline, probenecid, phenytoin, or cyclosporine. Do not use in animals that are pregnant, nursing, or are allergic to fluoroquinolone antibiotics. Do not administer enrofloxacin within 2 hours of giving vitamins or minerals, dairy products, or antacids. Use caution when giving enrofloxacin to animals with Central Nervous System disorders. Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture.

Possible Side Effects

In the case of an allergic reaction or serious side effect, contact your veterinarian immediately. Some signs of a serious side effect or reaction may include facial swelling, hives, or breathing difficulties.
