Product Info:

Dorzolamide reduces the amount of fluid produced in the eyes and treats glaucoma's in dogs and cats. It works as a protein inhibitor. Therefore, it reduces the activity of the protein, carbonic anhydrase. Carbonic anhydrase is responsible for producing fluid in the eye. By reducing the activity of this protein, dorzolamide lessens pressure in the eye. This medication is a sulfa-based drug.

For:

Dogs and Cats

Benefits:

  • Reduces pressure in the eye due to glaucoma
  • Reduces risk of nerve damage and loss of vision
  • Controls production of fluid, particularly within the eye

How it works:

Dorzolamide HCl inhibits carbonic anhydrase II. Inhibition of carbonic anhydrase decreases aqueous humor secretion, presumably by slowing the formation of bicarbonate ions with subsequent reduction in sodium and fluid transport. The result is a reduction in intraocular pressure (IOP).

Storage:

Should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.
